Meet the Team!

Transit team, an incredible and dangerous experience that... well, I wrote that before. Anyway, is time to present our beautiful and cool team:

Kayla joins the team from the sunny coast of Southern California, USA. There she works both as a professional artist and facilitator of creative ministries within her local church and community. She enjoys anything extreme, such as skateboarding, flying planes, and hopping in a van to traveling across Europe with a team of missionaries for 5 months!

-Hi, my name is Erin, I am from the States and my home town is Louisville, KY. I am a freelance videographer with a passion for using video to tell stories. I love to travel and I am very excited that God called me to the Transit Team!  I can't wait to document our adventures and show how God is working in our team and in the lives of the people we meet.

-Hello! I'm Silja from Finland. I just finish my high school and I wanted to go abroad. One of my opportunities was to be an au pair but I couldn't diceded the country, because I want to go everywhere. Moreover, I wanted to live with christians and feel adventure. Then I heard about OM and I found the transit Challenge. With this I can visit many countries! So my choice was clear. I prayed for that and God  let me come here.

-Hi, I'm Witte, Im 21 years young, and I'm from Holland. My hobbies are sports, music and my favourite bible verse is 1 Peter 2:21

-Hi! My name is Mimosa. I'm from Finland, and I'm 20 years old. I like meet people and new places. My hobbies are dance, boxing and I love read and running. I hope that God use me through what ever he want.

-Alright! I'm Kyle from Northern Ireland, 18 years old. I make a clatty attempt at playing guitar, love music and I'm all about the outdoors. Standard.

-Hello. I’m Yong-Min from South Korea. I love playing all kind of sports, especially football, table tennis, I want to use it for making good relationships with children and then I can tell them about my savior Jesus more easily. Anyway now I am enjoying the transit team. I expect that I will get lots of experience for mission. I would like to know what Jesus wants me to do in my life through the Transit Team. We are travelling until the end of December so hopefully God will keep our team by His side.

-Hola! I'm Lilamaria from Chile. I'm 19 years old and I'm the most humble person who you can meet...(ha ha) anyway, I can play violin and guitar (so, I love music) and I juggling with oranges, apples, sandals, people... and balls of course. I love England, the Big Ben and London... and I'm a christian :)

A short description of us, so you can know us little more... anyway, this is the Transit Challenge Team 2, and we have been together a little more than a month.
Our first challenge was France... after our interesting time in Italy.
The first two weeks, we were with the Transform Team. We went door to door, inviting people to a festival that the church was preparing in Codognan, France. Also, we lead worship in the churches (Caveirac and Codognon), helped run kids clubs, invited people to a puppet show and prepared and helped lead an International night.

After 3 weeks, 7 people left, and the rest that was Transit Team and OM France Team continued doing door to door and Kids Clubs. This was very useful for invite people to the festival. From Monday until friday, the Kids Club work in the same two places (we divides the team in 2) at the same time, and we could see that almost the same people was there.

From the OM France team several people could speak French, so they could talk with locals about the festival, and about us and what we were doing there. But it was really amazing to hear from the pastor and from the translators that our positive attitude, and the work we were doing caught the attention of the French people.

Our last week in France the Festival started and our dangerous mission was to do Kids Clubs and Open-Air outreach. People from the church helped us, as well as volunteers from the festival staff. We could see that every day we had new children, and more came daily. It was also encouraging to see the same people at the Festival that had been at our kids clubs the week before.

The Festival lasted two weeks, but we stayed just 4 days. The first day, God had a very interesting joke for a few of us. There is a Mime Show, and the professional mime needed help from a few of us. Six innocent members said yes, and six innocent members appeared in the middle of the show for the first day, in front of many people... as mimes. It was awesome to see how you can worship God in different ways like mime, and how people react to this.
Our Transit team left France on the 21st of August, except for Kayla, because the pastor invited her to paint in the festival. She told us three days later (when we were all together in Portugal) that the two following days were awesome. A lot of people went to the Festival on those days, and their reaction was very very good. The Lord moved his hand in the festival, and is moving in France...

Now we are in Portugal. The travel was very good, except for a little inconvenience with the food, because Sunday EVERYTHING was closed... so, we improvised. Apart from that (and a little interview at the border with security) everything was OK.

For the churches here, we will perform a program at disability home, a cafe concert, Open-air evangelism, activities with children, visits to a skateboard park, and maybe more.

In a Van...?

Transit Challenge... interesting words, full of danger and other complicated things.

Kayla, Erin, Yong Min, Kyle, Mimosa, Silja, Witte and Lilamaria, total of 8 are the brave people who decided to join this mission/adventure: Survive 5 months in a Van, and share the gospel wherever we go.
This challenge started on July 24, at 5:30 in the morning, when we spent 20 minutes trying to sort all the luggage in the Van. Our first travel was from Italy to France, and consisted of 6 hours, but was a little longer because we get lost thanks to "John" (our GPS). We were headed to France to join the larger Transform Outreach team....and we almost made it.

At the end of the day, our Van suffered a little problem (exhaust pipe detached itself). We felt like we were dealing with the Italian Maffia when the mechanic, taxi driver, hotel owner, tow-truck driver, and a German guy were working together and giving us a really hard time. After dealing with our new Italian friends, we went to a hotel, where four of us, Kyle,Kayla, Witte and Lilamaria stayed for 6 days and waited for the van to be repaired.

Yong-Min, Erin, Silja, and Mimosa went on to France, where they started to work with the Transform team and the Methodist churches of Caveirac and Codognan.

After 6 long days the team reunited. Once together, we worked in Kids Clubs, handed out church info door to door, visited a retirement home, promoted a Puppet show and performed in an International Night for the community. And all of this was done without any of us knowing French! At times the language barrier has been discouraging, but we are here for this, and we decided to follow this mission... Plus the Transform team has been very supportive and their French skills have really helped us to communicate. For us trying to speak in French is fun! Being able to say hello, goodbye, and thank you in any language has proven useful.

The 20th of August we head to Portugal! Please,if you can pray for us,will be soo cool...is around 2 days of traveling :)

BLESSINGS...and cheers :)
